Today is the day we’ve all been waiting for: the NCAA women’s basketball championship. So before the 6 p.m. ET tip-off between Stanford and Arizona, here’s a look at how we got here, what this means for both teams and who will be the difference makers tonight.

The GIST: The C’s lost their second straight last night, but nothing can stop us from smiling today because it’s officially the most wonderful time of the year: Red Sox season! Good times never seemed so good.

The GIST: For the first time in NCAA women’s basketball history, a freshman is the AP Player of the Year and two Black women will be head coaches in the Final Four. Oh yeah, and there are two thrilling games on deck for tomorrow night. More herstory, please.

The GIST: Two No. 1 seeds and a No. 2 seed advanced to the men’s Final Four with a No. 11 tagging along, looking to crash their party this Saturday. Bring on the madness.

Opening Day for White Sox and Cubs

Did anyone besides UCLA alumnus Bill Walton expect No. 11 UCLA in the Final Four?

The GIST: After a record number of upsets in the first two rounds, the men’s Sweet Sixteen went mostly as expected, with all of the remaining No. 1 seeds advancing to tonight and tomorrow’s Elite Eight action. That said, the tourney’s Cinderella team found their fairy godmother, and turned the tables on the beloved Sister Jean.

The GIST: While the v. injured Lakers signed Andre Drummond yesterday to upgrade the center position, the USC and UCLA men are absolutely rolling. Watch out, here comes LA.
