The GIST: The Lakers and Clippers wasted no time kicking off NBA free agency, moving players left, right, down the hall and center. Dig in!

🏀Hopped off the plane at LAX: Is LA the actual #WeTheSouth? Former Toronto Raptors Marc Gasol and Serge Ibaka are reportedly bringing their talents to our city. Marc becomes, for real this time, the second Gasol brother to suit up for the Lakers (Pau, we still miss you), while Mafuzzy Chef reunites with another former Raptor, Kawhi Leonard, on the Clips. What it do, baby!

  • The party didn’t stop there: among many other moves, the Lakers also signed reigning Sixth Man of the Year Montrezl Harrell away from the Clippers. Sneaky.

🏈⚽️ Football and fútbol: The Chargers gave us a fright yesterday, barely fending off the NY Jets in a 34–28 win. QB Justin Herbert threw 277 passing yards in the first half (including this beauty) en route to a new career high. And WR Keenan Allen had himself a day, setting the franchise record with 16 receptions. Still, too close for comfort.

  • As for the Rams, they play the Tompa Bay Buccaneers on Monday Night Football at 8:15 p.m. ET/5:15 p.m. PT. It’ll be the first time facing Tom Brady since their 2019 Super Bowl LIII (53) loss. Can the Rams get revenge against Brady and the Bucs? Let’s hope.
  • Want more football? Tune in tomorrow night at 10:30 p.m. ET/7:30 p.m. PT for fútbol of the soccer variety, when LAFC takes on the Seattle Sounders in the first round of the MLS playoffs. For Los Angeles!
