MLB’s revamped Home Run Derby was a major success

The GIST: From Patti LaBelle’s high notes to star-studded swings, MLB All-Star Week played all the hits in Philadelphia. Here’s the latest from the extra sparkly diamond before regular-season action resumes tomorrow.
💪 Jordan Walker becomes first St. Louis Cardinal to win Home Run Derby: Much to the disappointment of the loyal and loud Philadelphia crowd, first-time All-Star Walker topped the hometown hero, the Phillies’ Kyle Schwarber, in Monday’s Home Run Derby final.
- Walker blocked out the boos and blasted six straight long balls to claim the trophy, not to mention the $1M prize — a significant bonus on his $799K salary. Making Mom and Dad oh so proud.
- And Walker wasn’t the only one winning — MLB’s revamped Derby format was, well, a home run, generating tension and anticipation with every swing. Truly knocking it out of the park.
🤩 American League wins All-Star Game 4–0: The AL is back on top, now boasting a 49-45-2 all-time ASG record against their National League foes. The team’s pitchers stole the show, combining for a whopping 15 strikeouts in the dub.
