The GIST: If Saturday was for the fellas, Sunday was for the sirens of college hoops as the gals sang up six upsets of their own. Listen in for who’s hitting the right notes and who needs a tune-up.

The bad news Buckeyes: Just eight days ago, No. 2 Ohio State was humming an undefeated tune, but their melody is now off-key. The Buckeyes added to their now–three game losing streak with a 73–65 L to unranked Purdue yesterday. Today’s question isn’t if Ohio State will tumble in the AP Top 25, but how far. Yikes.

A tale of two short-handed teams: Yesterday’s injury-plagued squads fared two different outcomes. While roster-cursed No. 5 UConn posted a tight, but impressive, 63–58 victory over Big East rival No. 21 Villanova, the Dara Mabrey–less No. 7 Notre Dame weren’t as lucky. Even with their fourth-quarter comeback, the Irish fell 69–65 to No. 20 NC State.

Pac-12 pandemonium: NGL, this weekend’s Pac-12 hoops turned us into the math lady. First, the No. 8 UCLA Bruins took a stunning OT tumble against the No. 25 Colorado Buffaloes on Friday. Then both lost yesterday, with USC upsetting the Buffs 71–54 and No. 9 Utah narrowly besting the Bruins.

  • Also in on the bedlam party? Unranked Washington State, whose Cougars scratched out a 70–59 W over the No. 19 Arizona Wildcats in yesterday’s battle of claws. Conference standings gone wild.
