Florida and Vegas punch their tickets to the Stanley Cup conference finals
The GIST: The Conference Finals are nearly set after the Florida “Comeback Cats” Panthers ousted the Toronto Maple Leafs over the weekend, but the Western Conference squads are taking their sweet sweet time, with an epic Game 7 on deck tonight. So spoiled.
Vegas Golden Knights vs. Edmonton Oilers: Vegas prevented both Western Conference series from going to a full seven games, eliminating the Oilers with last night’s 5–2 Game 6 win and extending Canada’s Stanley Cup drought in the process.
- Jonathan Marchessault and the Golden Knights are through to their fourth Conference Finals after just six seasons in the league, while Edmonton’s two-time MVP Connor McDavid will once again have to settle for individual hardware.
Seattle Kraken vs. Dallas Stars: The newbie Kraken turned the tide with an energetic 6–3 Game 6 victory on Saturday, setting up tonight’s winner-take-all 8 p.m. ET Game 7 in the Big D. Everything’s bigger in Texas, especially the stakes.
