This one’s for the boys with the boomin’ system
From The GIST (hi@thegistsports.com)

Hey, what’s up, hello!
Hope your week’s been as good as the NY Liberty’s: The defending WNBA champs sold a stake in the team at a $450M valuation yesterday, the highest known valuation for a pro women’s sports franchise. Cha — and we cannot stress this enough — ching.
- Bringing that energy into the long weekend — we’ll be off on Monday as our team observes Memorial Day in the U.S., but there’s plenty of sports news to tide us over.

PWHL Finals
🏒 Even Stevens

The GIST: As the league prepares to honor one of the three MVP finalists with individual hardware, the Ottawa Charge and defending champ Minnesota Frost continue to battle it out for the real prize: the Walter Cup trophy, which could be awarded by the next time we talk.
Minnesota pushes Game 2 to overtime (OT), wins 2–1 to even series: After scoreless play for nearly all of regulation, this Finals showdown went to OT for the second straight tilt following a late third-period goal from polarizing Frost forward Britta Curl-Salemme.
- And while Ottawa outshot Minnesota 38 to 24 in the contest, the Frost ultimately came out on top thanks to Curl-Salemme's OT game-winner. A true stunner.
Can the Frost maintain momentum as the series shifts to Minnesota?: The defending champs guaranteed themselves two home games with last night’s win: Game 3 tomorrow and Game 4 on Monday, both at 5 p.m. ET.
- With the best-of-five series currently even 1-1, it’s anyone’s guess who will pull ahead — but a boost from the State of Hockey faithful could spark captain Kendall Coyne Schofield and Co. to a historic second Walter Cup. Can’t miss this.
NBA & NHL Playoffs
🏆 Did that really just happen?

The GIST: Another day, another postseason triple-header. In case you ran out of screens for the men’s action, here’s what’s happening in the NBA and NHL.
🏀 SGA, Thunder defend home court to take 2-0 series lead: Behind a game-high 36-point effort from the newly crowned MVP, OKC dominated the Minnesota Timberwolves 118–103 last night, moving just two Ws away from their first NBA Finals appearance since 2012. Anthony Edwards and the T-Wolves will need all the home-cooking they can get with Game 3 in Minny tomorrow at 8:30 p.m. ET.
- And then there was the choke seen ’round the world. Despite leading by 17 points in the fourth quarter, the NY Knicks dropped Wednesday’s Eastern Conference Finals Game 1 138–135 in OT to the Indiana Pacers following a clutch regulation buzzer-beater from
Reggie MillerTyrese Haliburton.
- Is Madison Square Garden redemption in the cards for the ’Bockers? Or are the Pacers really that team? Find out in Game 2 tonight at 8 p.m. ET.
🏒 Florida Panthers pounce, go up 2-0: The reigning Stanley Cup champions scored three first-period goals and never looked back, blanking the Carolina Hurricanes 5–0 on the Canes’ home ice last night. Ready the rats — star goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky and the Cats are heading back to Sunrise with a chance to secure a commanding 3-0 lead in Game 3 tomorrow at 8 p.m. ET.
- Meanwhile, the Dallas Stars scored five third-period goals on Wednesday to complete the comeback and defeat the Edmonton Oilers 6–3 in Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals.
- Tune in tonight at 8 p.m. ET to see if captain Connor McDavid (who had two assists on Wednesday) can get his Canadian squad back on track and even this thing up.
