Which NFL icon wore it best?
From Canadian tuxedos to this silky smooth ensemble, the NFL’s best dressed to impress in Week 1, but only one can take the first-ever “The Drip Report” crown.

The inaugural honor goes to Detroit Lions linebacker Derrick Barnes.
Our reasoning is twofold:
1️⃣ We love a father-son moment.
2️⃣ With great power comes great responsibility — and Barnes brought it in Week 1, recording six tackles, a sack, and an interception.
🐦⬛ An unstoppable force and immovable object

The GIST: Baltimore Ravens star running back (RB) Derrick Henry has been synonymous with backfield prowess for more than a decade — but elite RB productivity is notoriously limited. That led us to wonder: How is King Henry still this dominant at 32 years old?
📉 The infamous RB cliff: Running the football isn’t for the faint of heart. The wear and tear that comes with playing a position this physical means that most RBs have shorter careers (only two-and-a-half years on average) compared to their peers.
- Finding success on the other side of 30? Practically unheard of: RBs rarely peak past 29, with less than 8% of career-best seasons since 2010 authored by RBs 29 or older. In fact, the NFL’s average RB peak season comes around age 25.
👌 Henry can’t stop, won’t stop: Already a generational talent, Henry’s defying the odds. In 2024 (the year he turned the dreaded 30), he rushed for a career-best 5.9 yards per carry, following it up with a 2025 campaign that saw him improve as the season progressed: He added a full yard to his after-contact statline over the season’s final six weeks.
- As for Sunday’s Week 1 rout of the Indianapolis Colts, King Henry posted three touchdowns and 144 yards on 24 carries…at 32 years old. Unreal.
💪 But how has he been so good for so long?: Henry’s unprecedented longevity can be traced back to a few key differentiators. First, he’s absolutely massive: At six-foot-three and around 250 pounds, this King’s bigger and stronger than most linebackers and defensive backs attempting to contain him.
- His running style also lends itself to long-term success: He’s more upright than most RBs, minimizes the hard contact he takes, and leans on his size and speed (not lateral cuts that can be hard on joints) to evade would-be tacklers. Smart, savvy, and so unbelievably good.

1. San Francisco 49ers ❤️
After that performance Down Under, we simply couldn’t put the Niners anywhere else.
2. Buffalo Bills 🦬
A complete (and explosive) football team out of Orchard Park? Sure looks like it.
3. Baltimore Ravens 🐦⬛
One of the best backfields in football dominated from start to finish in Week 1…with no signature late-game collapses in sight.
🌧️ It’s raining touchdowns.
Sunday’s 13-game Week 1 slate featured an average of 53.3 points per game, the highest-scoring season-opening Sunday in league history, headlined by the Chicago Bears’ 59-point outburst against the Carolina Panthers. The touchdowns started coming, and they didn’t stop coming.
- Former Pittsburgh Steelers head coach turned NBC analyst Mike Tomlin attributed the offensive explosion to changing priorities in training camp: Less padded tackling and more focus on skill development allowed offenses to start hot out of the gate.
Expect the scoring deluge to continue in Week 2. Defenses will almost certainly shore up the holes with increased live reps in the coming weeks, but life (and Week 2) comes at you fast.
Until next Tuesday — may your team’s offense always find the endzone,
The GIST Team
