The GIST is hiring a Senior Account Executive to join our Partnerships team, working to forge new brand partnerships to take our content and programs to the next level.
The Partnerships team at The GIST works to develop, sell, and execute all of our brand partnerships, identifying opportunities to create custom partnerships across our channels (newsletter, social media, podcast, events) to help brands achieve their goals while tailoring content to our audience of “GISTers”.
We’re looking for a Senior Account Executive who has experience selling media and/or sports partnerships into brand partners and media agencies, identifying and pursuing opportunities to create new bespoke programming. Through your focus on account strategies, business development, and ownership of the full sales cycle, you’ll help us achieve revenue goals while helping brand partners maximize their investments in female fans and women’s sports.
What you’ll be doing:
- Prospecting, cultivating and developing relationships with senior decision makers at brands and agencies (including media, digital, experiential, social, creative and PR agencies)
- Developing account plans and business development strategies to identify and pitch custom concepts and programs to brand partners, aligning to The GIST’s offerings and values
- Developing and conducting outbound prospecting, including research, strategy, and messaging development to connect with high-potential brand partners
- Ideating on and/or developing customized proposals outlining bespoke content ideas as well as detailed scope, deliverables, and pricing for clients based on their objectives
- Working alongside the broader sales, integrated marketing and content teams to develop unique campaigns and offerings for brand partners
- Pitching, negotiating and closing brand partnership engagements and customized programs to clients and agency partners
- Identifying influences and trends in the marketplace to inform and create innovative new business offerings and opportunities
What we’re looking for:
- 5+ years of experience in selling digital media and/or sports properties, with an understanding of media offerings and sales cycles
- Knowledge, experience and passion for digital media, brand marketing and strategic partnerships
- Knowledge and experience in newsletter, social, video, podcast, and event sales is considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience in selling or developing sports properties, assets and/or campaigns is considered an asset
- Knowledge and experience developing integrated brand programs is considered an asset
- Ability to develop strong personal relationships with key brand and agency stakeholders, taking the time and effort to understand their business and objectives
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including presenting and pitching
- Comfort selling in a startup environment, including the ability to multi-task and dynamically prioritize, work independently and across multiple teams, and be able to quickly and independently make decisions on the fly in a fast-paced environment
- Strong maturity and judgment, with an ability to act as an ambassador for The GIST at industry events and client meetings
- Strong desire to achieve and exceed targets, and an ability to self-motivate through the ups-and-downs of sales
- Comfort with in-person meetings and business development, including a willingness to travel to key client meetings and industry events
- Enthusiasm and excitement for The GIST’s mission, and a relentless desire to bring that to life alongside our brand partners
